Frequently Asked Questions

Why coffee wood?
Coffee wood is a dense, natural hardwood that holds up beautifully to chewing without splintering like typical sticks. It's completely biodegradable, free of additives, and has a smooth, fibrous structure that breaks down safely as dogs chew.

We choose coffee wood because it offers a more mindful alternative to synthetic chews, rawhide, or treated woods. It’s naturally tough, long-lasting, and it doesn’t leave behind microplastics or chemical residue.
Are Whittle Sticks safe?
Whittle Sticks are designed to be chewed, not eaten. They're made from untreated coffee wood, which is known for breaking down into soft fibers rather than sharp splinters. That said, every dog is different. Some chew gently, while others try to swallow anything they can.

If your dog is under 6 months, has dental issues, or tends to gulp instead of chew, this may not be the right product. For dogs who enjoy gnawing on wood or natural textures, Whittle Sticks offer a satisfying, long-lasting option.

As with any chew, please supervise your dog during use and remove the stick if it becomes small enough to swallow. A few tiny fibers may be ingested during normal chewing, but large chunks should never be eaten. Always use your best judgment and observe how your dog responds.
Do they make a mess?
Whittle Sticks are low-mess compared to rawhide or plastic chews. Some light bark or fiber shedding is normal, especially at first, but there’s no staining or goo. Most people let their dogs enjoy them on rugs, beds, or hardwood with no problem.
How are Whittle Sticks made?
Each Whittle Stick begins with sustainably harvested coffee wood, sourced from small producers in Vietnam. The raw sticks are shaped and sanded to remove rough edges, then sent to us for finishing. Here in the U.S., we hand-apply a savory blend of salmon oil and powdered chicken breast, giving each stick its signature flavor and personality before it heads out to your doorstep.
Do you sell other products?
Right now, we’re focused on doing one thing really well. But we’re already cooking up a few more natural, satisfying chews that pair perfectly with the Whittle Stick experience.
